Tron: Legacy

SF: Loved every moment of this, one of the few films with 3d that was good. Plot... okay people it's a Tron movie! But good fun and a visual feast. 7/10

50 Eggs: Better than the original but not as good as it should have been. Rubbish 3D so totally disagree with SF and DonkeyB...maybe where I was sitting? 7/10

DonkeyB: My favourite 3D in a film [50 eggs had a bad seat] but that is damning with faint praise. Not sure why Tony Blair sprang up halfway through. Bit bored by the end. 5/10

Overall - 6.3/10

Monsters

SF: No monsters took over the world. No fights, no James Cameron style action. It some how became a thinky find yourself romance :-( 4/10

50 Eggs: Most disappointing Title to Film ratio in history. Should be sued under the Trades Description Act. 5/10

DonkeyB: How could two otherwise intelligent and wise (sorry I was thinking of two other people).... This is a good road movie, the Monsters are incidental. I wasn't expecting people hitting things with things, or monsters eating people with things. It has a serious message about the wall in America too. Good, great even considering the budget. 7/10

Overall - 5.3/10 This is an unfair mark caused by the troglodytes

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

SF: Bored, where is this going...nowhere. The worst of all the Harry Potter films as nothing happens. 3/10

50 Eggs: Watchable but really just a longwinded set up for Part 2. Weird 'is it ok to watch this?' sex scene with Hermione. 6/10

Due Date

SF: no plot, no point, no humour. I kept watching thinking this can't get any worse. Really it can't. 2/10

50 Eggs: About as funny as getting your balls stung by a swarm of angry bee's. Painful. 3/10

Burke & Hare

SF: Black comedy is my thing, so this should of been just perfect. Plus I adore half the cast and they filmed next door to me, alas I was rather under whelmed so a sad 4/10

50 Eggs: Very forgettable. Not particularly funny but harmless entertainment. 6/10

Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Gahoole

SF: I love Owls. The animation was lovely and story wasn't that exciting and it take a while to get going but I rather liked it. 6.5/10

50 Eggs: I don't have much to say about this, it was pretty boring really. Why did the talking owls have Australian accents? That's just unrealistic. 4.5/10

Takers

SF: I rather enjoyed the pace of this film. Thought the characters could do with fleshing out a bit more. However has some great sequences just missing that spark. 5/10

50 Eggs: Boring for the most part. These guys are supposed to be genius robbers but they basically just hold up a bank and scarper. Oceans 4/10

DonkeyB: Total shit. 2/10

Overall - 3.67/10

The Social Network

SF: plot wise I wasn't expecting much but West Wing guy has a way of writing that made the whole film strangely compelling. The soundtrack worked perfectly, the witty dialogue was engaging and overall I can't complain even if I loath Facebook. 8/10

50 Eggs: The Facebook move turned out to be brilliantly excellent. Riveting stuff with great performances from Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield and the supporting cast. 10/10

DonkeyB: Its Aaron Sorkin, what's not to like? Funny, witty, tense. Justin Timberlake is a bastard, so is the guy who invented napster and now they are forever the same person in my head. 9/10

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps

SF: this whole film was predictable, boring and unimaginative. Lacking the dark edginess of the original. Sorry but Shia LeBouf was rather dull as the lead. Not to mention it's exhaustingly long. 3/10

50 Eggs: Didn't live up to the excellent trailer. Uninspiring and Carey Mulligan is annoying. Stupid bitch. 5.5/10

DonkeyB: Bad Oliver Stone. Worse Shia theBeef. I liked the soundtrack though. Susan Sarandon (boo hiss) is in it, with her for a mother and Michael Douglas for a father figure its no wonder Mr Beef's character is off the rails. 5/10

The Hole

SF: Gremlins for a new generation, a bit scary a bit adventure. I have to admit one bit really freaked me out adding to the intrigue. 7/10

50 Eggs: Narrowly beating Super 8 for best nostalgia movie, and one of my favourite films of the year. Homely, scary and cool all at the same time. 9/10

Winter's Bone

SF: Harrowing is the best word to decribe this film. I felt awful after watching this, in fact that's part of the trouble, all you can do is watch. The sheer inhumanity of Ree's situation coupled with the excellent direction really make this film totally gripping. It is not one you enjoying watching, it leaves you rather miserable but the performances are superb. 8/10

50 Eggs: n/a

DonkeyB: Oh so good. One of the films of the year. 9/10

Devil

SF: A bit unnerving at points but overall a bit blah, wouldn't watch it again. Ok so I did jump once I admit it. 4/10

50 Eggs: A bit stupid but fun, creepy in parts and an interesting premise. 7/10

DonkeyB: Surprised I liked it as much as I did, but the reveal was a bit too obvious. 4/10

Overall - 5/10

The Other Guys

SF: I must have been in a good mood as I really laughed for the first hour but the last 40 mins dragged. Overall does what it sets out to - buddy cop and fun but still a bit odd. 5.5/10

50 Eggs: There are some funny bits in this, like The Rocks cameo and some extended ad libbing, but overall it seems a little bizarre. Would probably be better second time round. 5.5/10

Resident Evil: Afterlife

SF: the worst of all RE films and that's saying something. The opening is pretty good but overall a bit boring and why does Alice lose her powers! 4/10

50Eggs: Better than the other RE's, and more faithful to the games in some ways, but ultimately a bit on the pants side. 6/10

Salt

SF: Very much Bourne meets The Long Kiss Goodnight. Twists and turns, full of action and rather entertaining - does everything I wanted, only bad point is it's left open for a sequel, I hate when they do that. Still 6/10

50 Eggs: I fully expected this to be tripe, but was pleasantly surprised. Kept me guessing the whole way through. 7/10

DonkeyB: Dull. Bad Angelina. 5/10

Overall - 6/10

Piranha 3D

*May not be actual film poster.
SF: Firstly I really didn't want to see this film. I've seen the original and can't say it even went into my comedy horror or films so bad they are good list. So this is placed in a lake and they find the fish and aren't sure if they should close the place queue death and loads of people in swim wear. 10 mins in I was about to cry, Christopher Lloyd please tell me why you were in this? At that point I start skipping forward - sorry 50Eggs but I coulnd't help it. Also if the fish evoled over 2 millions years what were they eating to stay alive? *Spoiler* And then they ate a penis...oh dear heaven it was as bad as Snakes on a Plane 2/10

50 Eggs: Is it horribly violent, shamefully juvenile? Yes. Does it aim squarely at the lowest common denominator? Yes. Did I like it? YES! I know its awful but its hilarious all the same, and frankly you could have got rid of the piranhas and I would still have enjoyed it just for Kelly Brooks' star turn. 8/10

The Sorcerers Apprentice

SF: Not as bad as I expected. Nice effects plus an alright storyline - ok so the characters were a bit flat but overall fun. 6/10

50 Eggs: I liked this. It was all a bit clichéd I guess but that didn't stop me enjoying it. I doubt they'll do a sequel though. 7/10

The A-Team

SF: The plot was ok but really how did they make the A-team dull? Skip this and watch Losers. 3/10

50 Eggs: Very disappointing. So much waisted potential. Nothing like the series. They should have gone with a Starsky & Hutch style comedy if they were going to mess with it anyway. 5.5/10

The Karate Kid

SF: This was ok at best, had a Sunday afternoon feel and some bits were just pure cheese. Didn't love it though. 5/10

50 Eggs: Mildly entertaining but a big let down really. The original hasn't aged well but its still better than this, and you kinda think that Jaden Smith would benefit from a good kicking. 5/10

Splice

SF: Ah my eyes. I loathed this movie, the story was boring and slow. The characters under developed and just horrific. I still feel ill thinking of this film. 0/10

50 Eggs: Gross to the point where I had to cover my eyes and squirm in my seat. But I did like the concept and there was a creepy atmosphere throughout. I couldn't watch it again but its still worth 8/10

Inception

SF: Christopher Nolan - a man with true vision. Everything is superb The cast (how Leonardo DiCaprio doesn't have an Oscar yet is insane) are all at their best. The concepts, the effects, all superb. Emotive and awe-inspiring. 10/10

50 Eggs: This is what cinema is all about. Great action, stunning SFX, imagination and a complex but coherent plot. Wow. The best films always seem to come out of nowhere. 10/10

DonkeyB: Yeah, it is that good. As near to perfect as you can get. If I don't give this film ten what conceivably would I give a ten to? I watched it twice in 24 hours at one point. 10/10

Predators

SF: Tense, full of action and still surprised me at points, on a par with the original movies. 8/10

50 Eggs: At last, a film that does justice to the original. Faithful to Predator, but certainly not just a retread. Wipes the horrible memory of Predator 2 away. 8.5/10

Iron Man 2

SF: Iron Man set the bar very high indeed so it would be near impossible to top it. Personally I never liked Whiplash as a baddie, can't say this film helped in that respect but WarMachine is cool and I'm glad he was finally in this one. Took a while to get going but great finale. 6.5/10

50 Eggs: Really boring. Clearly this is just a build up to the Avengers movie but is that a good reason to eject all the excitement present in the first movie? No. The last scene was ok but everything else - plot, bad guy, action - was all below average. 4.5/10

Clash of the Titans

SF: I was very excited about this film, as I adore the 1981 original. Now the action was gripping and I can't fault it there but Perseus was basically a piece of wood. For the unfortunate moments he got to speak I was cringing in my seat. Mads Mikklesen was the only character with a tiny bit of depth but thoroughly let down by a rather poor plot. I've no idea why they changed the story around? The addition of Io was particularly unnecessary.  At least Alexa Davalos was engaging for her little screen. Not to mention the biggest crime, leaving Bubo behind.Clearly no one remembers that Bubo is that one who always saves the day in the original movie. 5/10

50 Eggs: From the moment Jurassic Park came out I was gagging for studios to start remaking the Greek Myths. This wasn't quite what I had in mind. It should have been awesome but thanks to a lazy script and odd pacing, it's just ok. Sam Worthing is awful in the lead role. He's too old and utterly lacking in talent. I did enjoy some of the set pieces though so it's not a total disaster. 6/10
