True Grit

SF: Does real justice to the original, has everything a Western needs - a hero or two, horses, a bad guy and guns. Where it excels is the sharp wit. I found it was amusing as I did moving. As westerns go this is now going to be one of my all time favorites. The performances were excellent and the cinematography stunning. Be warned it is very long but I doubt you'll notice.
8/10

50 Eggs: Over hyped? Definitely, but enjoyable nonetheless. 7.5/10

DonkeyB: Loved this. 9/10

No Strings Attached

SF: Funnier than expected, not a bad plot but not wow either...okay I liked it! 6/10

50 Eggs: Weirdly good. You know exactly where its going before youve even started watching it, but its a fun ride, much like Natalie Portman appeared to be. 7.5/10

DonkeyB: I remember nothing about this movie. Was there a cup cake in it? 3/10

I am Number 4

SF: This was pretty fun in a mindless predictable but I like it anyway sort of way. Had all the elements you need, hero with new powers, the mentor, the bad guys, the fights. Not sure if it warrants a sequel but still not bad. 6/10

50 Eggs. You know what, this was alright! If they make the sequals (doubtful) I'll watch them. 7/10

Never Let Me Go

F: Ok putting the book (which I love) aside, I thought this merely ok. Parts of it were incredibly moving and other parts rather drab. I guess I'm biased and had expectations that were too high. 5/10

50 Eggs: Not a fun watch but it's not supposed to be. An accurate portrayal of the book and just as haunting, this is one that sticks in your mind long after you've left the cinema. Andrew Garfield was brilliant, Keira Knightley very good, and even Carey Mulligan managed not to be annoying. 8/10

Brighton Rock

SF: This film leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth. I haven't seen the original or read the book so I  had nothing to compare this to and had no expectation but I wasn't drawn into this. I spent most of the film uncomfortable but maybe that is what it is trying to achieve. 5/10

DonkeyB: Mods and rocker reperioding was interesting but somewhat screws up the main plot point; that they are running an illegal (by definition for the original time period) off course bookmaker 5/10
